Susan J.C. AlveshereSusan J.C. Alveshere is an internationally acclaimed artist who has been winning awards for her artistic ability since 1986. She is one of a very few colored pencil artists in the world who draw on black paper (Arches Cover Black). Alveshere has a unique way of drawing that is vastly different from other artists where she uses bright colors and different techniques of layering color until it is thick and waxy. It has been said that her drawings are much like a photograph negative and thus brighter and most unusual. It was not until the early 90's that it was realized her drawing techniques were a natural reaction to her learning disability of dyslexia.
Now she enjoys volunteering in the community and sharing with other disabled individuals how to think of their disabilities in a different light, as potential strengths. Susan teaches her techniques and has written two instructional books for colored pencil based on her techniques.
Susan lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and three children.
